Here is a list of real life, doable things that you can do the really will help you control your body weight over the long run. No crash diet tips HERE!

Eat breakfast

One of the most common dieting mistakes people make is not eating breakfast. Most people say that “ eating breakfast makes me feel queasy”. Well, there are ways around that, but first let’s look at why breakfast is some important.diet tips

After sleeping all night, your body needs energy to function. Your body is expecting to get feed, but when you skip breakfast, your body goes into “starvation” mode. Whenever your body goes into starvation mode, it becomes more efficient at getting as much energy out of any food it gets. The end result is that your body will get more energy out of the food you eat, which it will store as fat because your body doesn’t know when it will be getting more food.

An interesting fact is normally people go into starvation mode if their calorie intake for the day is less than 1200 calories. This is why people that go on crash diets usually end up gaining weight.

So what should you eat for breakfast? One of the best breakfast food is oatmeal. Another great food is eggs. If you have the queasy breakfast trait, then try a protein bar or diet shakes. These work really good because they are high in protein and fiber, both of which makes you fill full and gives you a slow, steady supply of energy. They are also great to eat on the run.

Get rid of liquid calories

There a lot of calories from sugars in all the regular soda pops. Drinking on of the 44 oz. pops that you find at just about every gas station, will have around 500 calories. It take 3500 calories to make a pound of fat. Take 500 times 7 days a week and you could drop 1 pound of fat a week just by switching over to water instead of your daily pop. Besides, water helps out in other ways when you are dieting.

Eat lots of protein

Protein makes you fill fuller, takes longer to digest and requires more energy to digest that carbs or fats. One of the reasons low carb diets or the Atkins diets works so well is that you lots of protein. You will find that if you center your meal choices around your protein choice, you will eat less and feel full longer.

Weigh in only once a week

Here is a biggy diet tip. If you check your weight everyday or several times a day, you will get discouraged and quickly give up. Weight loss is a gradual process and your body weight changes throughout the day. Water weighs 8.5 pounds a gallon. Drink a 32oz water (no pop, remember!) and you will weight 2 lbs heavier. Give the water a chance to get through your system and the weight will come right back off.

Set one day a week to weight in. Do this first thing in the morning before you eat or drink anything. Write this number down and keep track. You will see how you are progressing. It also helps to have a digital scale because you can see an exact number.

Start an exercise program only after your weight loss slows down

You won’t see this often when looking for diet tips, but you should not start exercising at the same time you start dieting. First, you don’t want to make a bunch of changes all at once. Change too many thing and you will end up failing.

Second, when you start to plateau on your diet and the weight loss slows down, exercising might give you a jump start and get the weight loss going again.

Third, many times people start working out and put muscle on. Putting on muscle is a good thing but that muscle increases your body weight. If you are watching the scale and your weight starts going up, it can be discouraging. It will not be as discording if you have already lost some weight and know that what you have been doing is work, but early on you might not realize this without having some success behind you.
